Neotropical Institute Cut # 6. Bulk reel: 119
a) 7:30 AM. Song by male (except final one where perhaps female also joined in?*). Quality: 1. Level: +5.
(In background is Synallaxis cinnamomea.)
*Note 15/X/67 - As of this date I don't know for certain whether both sexes sing the same "songs." It appears from a review of cuts 1/5 that perhaps they may. Even if this is so, until I can check this definitely iln the field, the indications appear to be that the male imitates the duets when they occur and sings [recordist drew representation of vocalization here that cannot be replicated by keyboard] while the female sings [recordist drew representation of vocalization here that cannot be replicated by keyboard]. Maybe in the last song above, the whole thing was sung by the male.
b) ~8:00 AM. After playback. This seems to confirm the definite division of songs but they are not certainly fixed as to sex. Quality: 1. Level: 0.
At end are some calls that may be of this species.
ML: Subject changed from Drymophila caudata to D. klagesi to reflect current taxonomy. --Jay McGowan 19Sep2013
