RUSCHI SAID THIS IS A TYPICAL DISPLAY OF THE GENUS COLIBRI. IN MAR59 MR. AND MRS. R. WARD OBSERVED SIMILAR DISPLAYS OF COLIBRI THALASSINUS, NEAR CERRO PUNTA, CHIRIQUI PROV., PANAMA. FOUR OR MORE MALES COULD SEEN AND HEARD AT ONE TIME, EACH PERCHED AT THE SUMMIT OF AN OUTSTANDINGLY TALL TREE, 25-30M TALL, AND CONTINUING FOR AT LEAST 4 OR 5 DAYS, PRACTICALLY ALL DAY. ONE BIRD, OBSERVED FOR AN HOUR, CALLED ,ON THE AVERAGE, TWICE A SECOND, AND WERE INTERRUPTED BY SHORT EXSCURSIONS, PRESUMABLY FOR FEEDING.
