A 'challenge' song? Also heard: jets in first part. pitch pipe at end. Q 3,2,2-3 [These songs appear to represent mostly the "Chatter Songs" of BNA (or the Second Category songs of Spector. 1992. Wood-warbler song systems: a review of paruline singing behaviors. Current Ornithology 9: 199-238; see also Figure 9 (#2773-5) of Mayfield, H. 1960. The Kirtland's Warbler. Cranbrook Institute of Science. Bull. 40. Bloomfield Hills, Michigan). Typical of these songs, the bird was singing at a rapid rate and it was giving chip calls throughout. In addition to 40 "Chatter Songs," there are five typical, Type I songs at 1:21-1:51, these essentially identical to the songs in LNS #61273 and 61274. Quality added (3-2, 1-2, 2 - begins poor, best for two of the type I songs (1:28-1:37), and ends with the BEST Chatter Songs of the cut at 2:15-3:03) - CAM - 12 July 2005]
