NOTES: Neotropical Institute Cut # 14. Bulk reel: 27a) When I arrived this bird was singing a dawn song. Before I could set up to record it, it stopped. After a few minutes silence it sang this one-note repeated "normal song", spontaneously, no playback. Quality: 1. Level: +7.b) Song after playback of a). Quality: 1. Level: 0.After this "song" finished and some minutes of silence, the bird started "one-note song" again. These notes seem more sharply accented than those of Part a). Quality: 1. Level: +5.Note: After playback, the bird flew (actually a falcon-like dive) down the hill over me to opposite side from where it had been before starting b).Note: Additional playback was performed and the birds reactions recorded. It gave a munber of variations to its song, including at one time something resembling the dawn song it had first been singing. Unfortunately, these recordings were mysteriously erased. PS
