NOTES: Neotropical Institute Cut # 27. LNS Bulk reel: 05Weather: cloudy, Fair. Responsive calling @ night. This suggests that although the birds are not active at night, their calling is apparently not completely a passive act performed in the sleep. [sic] Quality: 3. Level: +5. 139 tape. The occasional apparent chain reaction calling by Tinamus major suggests the same but in the present cut the apparent responsive calling by a male and female seems more positive evidence. This may be a pair; the female is apparently the louder, lower pitched voice. Such pair-calling at night is also heard from C. variegatus and C. casiquaiare.
