NOTES: "Recorded in vicinity of one of J. Woodford's nesting boxes placed on the trunk of a large tree (maple? elm?). Woodford manipulated reflector. According to Woodford, this was a still unmated male. We brought him in close and stimulated him to sing and display in front of nest box (as if showing it to a female) with specific sounds - by playing back first a distant song of his and then louder, closer ones. Flutter of his wings can be heard as he mobes about from one perch to another close to nest box. 50 secs of this recording extracted for Vol. 1. ('chocolate tape')."
