NOTES: (Time: 0900-1103. Special Song Type: Alternate song. Behav. Context: Threat. Gen. Climate: Arid, cyclic wet-dry. Gen. Habitat: Bushed woodland. Cover Density: Open, medium.) Initial sequences were natural, then I ussed playback of the prior seq. to try to get an exact identification of the males involved. This playback resonse to my plakyback and then to Leter's playback (i.e. same sp. alt. song). Then my annotation of Pind = #3 male Pink. However, there are (were) other males involved and when there are three or more males I could not see who was calling. L.L. Short's notes (journal) should be taken with these cuts as he was watching and working separately from me. Also heard with the alt. song are sequences of hive defense of food source calls.
"Chasing variegatus" 1103 hrs field note explains the chasing.
