Better tapes of this animal can be obtained in some zoos, and they do not seem much different from those of wild ones. However, this tape is of wild ones, from a location high on a cliff above one of their hauling-out places, one of the few places where they do so on the mainland, as they usually use small offshore islands for this purpose. It is almost impossible to get away from surf noise in taping wild sea lions, either Steller or California genus. No wind.
