Captured Scotinomys teguina #14(1st marked on [blank space; date not given]. She's an adult female, heavy (18g) with enlarged nipples. She looks pregnant to me. At the site of capture set her up in a 1/4 inch mesh hardware cloth cage at 10:00 a.m. Positioned mike 0.5 m from cage. I heard two songs from free-ranging individual(s) at 11:21 and 11:25. At 11:55 she sang from the top corner of the cage. Tape turned on at 11:57. She sang several times from the floor and moved to opposite of cage. A free-ranging Scotinomys approached the cage and the female began a series of different sounding pulses of sound when the individual was close. It sniffed the cage, then bolted, but remained in the area (visual confirmation). Toward end of tape the free-ranging individual sang and the female answered.
