NOTES: Range status: NORMAL; Breeding status: NON BREEDING; Frequency of sound: LOW; General climate: HUMID; Cover density: OPEN; I WAS WALKING UP ON A SITTING BIRD THAT WAS GIVING THE HIGH WHISTLE. THE LOUDER CALLS WERE GIVEN AS THE BIRD FLUSHED. ADULT(S); Sex: UNKNOWN [These calls appear to represent the "Alarm Calls" described in BNA account for birds on the wintering grounds. Most are quite similar to the low-intensity "Alarm Calls" given by nesting birds (0:15-1:145 and 1:34 - BEST part at 0:425-0:57; like those on left side of Figure 2F, but not quite as emphatic), but five calls near the end of the recording are more like either the "Flight Call" or the high-intensity "Alarm Calls" given by nesting birds (1:17-1:21; right side of same figure). Note that this taxon is now recognized as Pluvialis fulva. Quality changed from 1 to 2 (signal is generally weak and some of the higher-intensity calls may be overlaoded) - CAM - 23 February 2005] LNS Note: Species name change from dominica to fulva as per AOU checklist, 7th Edition.
