NOTES: Weather: WIND; TREES UNCUT FOR 20 YEARS. VERY HILLY. 400HZ HIGH PASS FILTER. TWO PARTS: FIRST PART: THE BIRD SPEEDS UP AND THEN CRIES ARE HEARD WHICH MAY OR MAY NOT BE FROM THE BIRD. LENGTH: 0:40. SECOND PART: BETTER RECORDING; THE SONG IS SPEEDED UP, THEN STOPS, AND GAW GAW NOTES ARE HEARD WHICH ARE ALMOST EXACTLY THE SAME AS THOSE UTTERED BY CAPRIMULGUS CAROLINENSIS--THIS IS PROBABLY CONNECTED WITH COURTSHIP OR MATING. PRELIMINARY NOTES ('CLOCKS') ARE HEARD. LENGTH:2:10.

[Sixty-three examples by the close bird of the "Whip-poor-will" Call of BNA or, more appropriately, the song of C. v. vociferus. The second series of songs by the close bird is followed by a long series of "Cur" Calls (1:22-2:46), these overlapping the songs of a distant individual at 2:17-2:45. Quality changed from 3-2 to 2-3, 2 (the second part is much better than the first) - CAM - 25 March 2005]
