    Equipment Note

NOTES: WHEN WE FIRST ENTERED THE AREA THE PAIR OF GOSHAWKS WERE SCREAMING AND FLYING AT US ALMOST CONTINUALLY. BY THE TIME THE EQUIPMENT WAS SET UP THEY HAD QUIETED SOMEWHAT OCCASIONALLY FLYING AT US AND THEN CIRCLING AWAY. THEY PERCHED IN VARIOUS LOCATIONS AND FLEW FROM TIME TO TIME. DURING THE ENTIRE PERIOD THE FEMALE WAS MUCH MORE AGRESSIVE THAN THE MALE AND FLEW MUCH CLOSER TO US. SEVERAL TIMES SHE FLEW DIRECTLY OVER OUR HEADS AT A DISTANCE OF 3 OR 4 FEET.

[These are "ki-ki-ki..." Alarm Calls (sensu BNA) given by two birds. The highlighted bird appears to have been the female. Quality unchanged (1-2) - CAM - 24 November 2004]
