NOTES: (Behav. Context: Parent-young contact. Gen. Climate: Humid, cyclic wet-dry. Cover Density: Thick. Noise Reduction System: Dolby. Bias: Metal.) These remarkable sounds came from a couple of Slate-colored Grosbeaks (Saltator grossus). The birds were not seen making the sounds but could be seen in a dense small tree from which the sounds came. Starting at .20 the tape includes answering calls (at a higher volume) from a higher tree some distance away. Seems like the first part of tape is of young birds. Confirmed against Parker cut (LNS 17574).
