One of the warmest and dryest parts of Switzerland, on the south slope of the Bernese Alps. Open, south-exposed slope between two small villages, dotted with groups or rows of wild trees (apples, cherries) standing mostly along artificial irrigation channels. The region is famous for its rich insect life.
