NOTES: A RED-BELLIED WOODPECKER AND A RED-HEADED WOODPECKER WERE FIGHTING OVER A NEST HOLE ABOUT 25FT UP IN A DEAD TREE BY THE ROADSIDE IN THE REFUGE. THE RED-HEADED FLEW AWAY--LEAVING THE RED-BELLIED IN CHARGE. [Much of this represents the "Cha" Call of Melanerpes carolinus described in BNA (especially 0:20-0:32, 0:34-0:40, 2:09-2:52, 2:55-2:59, and 3:01-3:06), but there are a variety of other calls, many of which were given by M. erythrocephalus (both the Typical "Tchur" Calls at 0:42, 0:47, and 1:10, and the rattle-like, Alarm Calls calls at 0:045, 0:0555, 0:15, 0:17, 0:195, 0:23, 1:14-2:07, and 3:18-3:34 (these examples are the BEST ones we have for this latter call - quality 2-1). There is a "cryptic" stop-start at 1:425. Quality changed from 3-2 to 2, 2-1 - CAM - 4 May 2005]
