Chorus calls of the flock of five birds that were moving back-and-forth between the top of some sparsely vegetated (and possibly largely dead) branches at the top of a large tree and a concealed position amid a vegetated tree that was a bit closer to the logging road about 1 km. beyond the logging camp. Although I saw only three birds while I was recording, five of these birds flew overhead shortly thereafter. What typically happened was that one of the birds would remain in the dead snag as a lookout while the other two birds glided down with their wings spread to the lower perch.

After a short while at this perch they returned to the open branches. The birds were about 75-80 meters away and about 40 meters up when in the open branches (where most of these calls were given), but probably 50 meters away and 30 meters up and obscured by vegetation when in the closer tree. This is the same group of birds, which were present at this spot every day that we passed by (and I suspect they had a nest nearby), previously recorded in cuts #BOL 005 and #BOL 006. Mostly clear with just a few high thin clouds overhead, calm, 83° F.
