NOTES: (Breeding Status: Unknown. Frequency of Sound: Normal, agitated. Gen. Climate: Dry. Cover Density: Thick.) Two birds squabbled several times after playback.

LNS note: This recording was E. difficilis. Changed to E. occidentalis following split; see AOU 1998. mf

BNA: Male Position Note: "pit-PEET!" or rising whistle "wee-eee!" or "squeet!" Also quiet vocalizations that don't fit BNA descriptions, sound to me like "per-dit per-DEEt", syllables in varying combinations. Also, voc's that sound to me like "Chirr-dit" very harsh. mf
