NOTES: THIS KINGBIRD REPEATEDLY DOVE AT, SNAPPING ITS BILL AND VOCALIZING, A FEMALE ROSE-THROATED BECARD, PACHYRAMPHUS AGLAIAE. I COULD DETERMINE NO REASON FOR THIS DISPLAY OF ANIMOSITY. THE BECARD USUALLY RETREATED INTO THE INTERIOR OF THE LEAFLESS TREE ON WHICH SHE WAS PERCHED BUT WENT BACK TO EXPOSED TWIGS AS SOON AS THE KINGBIRD HAD GONE. THE KINGBIRD MADE LARGE CIRCLES DURING ITS ATTACKS, BEING AT TIMES 200-300M AWAY AND THEM COMING BACK TOWARD THE BECARD.I BELIEVE THAT THE KINGBIRD ALSO PERCHED AT TIMES BUT OUT OF SIGHT SO I COULD NOT TELL WHETHER IT ACTUALLY PERCHED OR MADE LARGER CIRCLES. THIS RECORDING INCLUDES ONLY PART OF THE TOTAL SERIES OF ATTACKS. TREES ON HILL TOP BESIDE A MINE CUT. Sex: 1 UNKNOWN BNA: Bill snapping. No description in BNA account of monosyllabic call, such as those given in this recording. mf
