NOTES: (Species: V. vicinior - id?; General Climate: dry) BNA: Call Notes. LNS NOTE: This cut was originally identified as Vireo vicinior by recordist. CAM and MJA (20 April 2005) believe it is Vermivora luciae based on call notes on the Stokes Western CD. I have changed the FoxPro record and original data forms where necessary. I put down a 75% confidence in identification by sound. - MJA, 20 April 2005. [The four "bink" Call notes here were certainly given by either Vermivora virginiae or V. luciae and unquestionably not any Vireo. Given that the habitat was said to be oak/coniferous woodland in a canyon ravine, and that there is a Trogon singing in the background, I suspect this recorded was at or above Portal rather than in a desert wash below Portal. As such, this bird was probably a Virginia's Warbler, though LNS #18776 is of a Lucy's Warbler and it may have been recorded in a similar habitat. Without more data about either the bird's appearance or the precise site where this recording was made, however, I doubt that we can be 100% certain about the identification. Quality changed from 3 to 2 - CAM - 15 June 2005]
