NOTES: Weather: WIND; A BAND OF 5 SALTATORS WAS DISTURBED BY MY PASSAGE AND BEGAN SCREAMING AND SCREECHING FROM THE TREETOPS ALONG MY ROUTE. WHEN I STOPPED TO SET UP THE RECORDER THEIR EXCITEMENT BEGAN TO DIE BUT THEY CONTINUED TO CALL. THE BAND BROKE UP AND ONLY TWO REMAINED, STILL CALLING BUT WITH DIMINISHING AGITATION. OLD LAVA FLOW DENSELY OVERGROWN WITH BRUSH, VINES, AND OCCASIONAL TREES.
