Media notes
Recordist notes: "Listen for strange growling calls toward the end of the cut. I came across this bird perched on a low branch. After being discovered, it fidgeted nervously on its perch while giving an alarm call continuously for about 20 minutes and did not actually flush until I approached within 20 meters. It was astonishingly confiding for a guan. P. ortoni and P. purpurascens evidently can be difficult to separate in the field - this bird appeared to show some chestnut color on the rump when it flew, but none was visible on the belly at rest." The Sennheiser K6 low-cut filter was engaged during recording. Other Behaviors: Emit Alarm. Habitat: Cloudforest.
