End of Chris Clark hanging the ARU in the tree.
Friday, Feb 22, 4:54pm

0:36-1:17
Drilling, pause, drilling, pause. Some labored breathing and shifting around.

1:17-1:55
Loud hammering, then someone talking to the nail, then getting a new drill bit to drill a hole into the tree.

1:56 AC
(calling up to Chris) Chris, how often is this ARU taking a sound sample?

2:02 CC
Continuously

2:04 AC
Continuously.

2:04 CC
So it's recording all of us right now. But not quite as high fidelity.

2:09
Ambi. Drilling, talk. Scraping noise. Drilling, talk. Talk and hammering. Talk about the unit and how much it weighs. Then the team gets ready and starts hoisting it up. Alex is helping.

6:13 AC
So that thing's hanging at maybe 12 feet now and we've got another few feet to go. Chris is up the tree.

6:35-7:55
Group is kind of grunting and heaving. Dirt falls from the upper branches of the tree. Chris asks Alex to let id down a little, a little more.

7:56
Bill switches sides of the tree.

8:0012:00
Group walking around, getting stuff out of a bag, zipping. The ARU is in place so they are now just trying to make sure it works and get a GPS reading.

10:41-10:43
FX Flock of birds takes off.

12:03
Group gives the GPS readings they have. Chris decides to put the windscreen in and then they can all go home.

12:55 AC
Why do you put insecticide in there?

13:00 ES
Well, it's a downward-facing cup and being where we are (we have a lot of ants in there) right, (gets interrupted). I'm mostly worried about insects nesting and wasps or things that actually intend to develop some acoustically noisy situation.

13:36
Group jokes about hating insects, while coating the thing.

14:02 AC
Chris, you're an absolutely expert tree-climber.

14:07 CC
Not bad for government work.

14:24 CC
We have four TLU's up. Now if we could just get the elephants to stop¿

14:37 CC
Okay, everybody's got everything. I've got the GPS. I'm going to radio back. Mirador mirador mirador, do you copy?

14:48 ES
I think I heard them walk past Chris.

14:56 CC
I am amazed.

14:57
Radio voice, asking if they were trying to reach them.

15:02 CC
Yeah, we're all done. Are you packing up or have you left?

15:08
Radio voice, not quite understandable

15:11 CC
Okay, meet you on the path.

15:13
radio voice.

15:21 CC
I'm sorry, I didn't copy. Repeat.

15:23-16:37
Chris and the radio voice have a conversation, but Chris can't understand what they are saying. Finally he figures it out and the group prepares to leave, makes sure they're all packed up.

16:38
Group heads out. Lots of feet crunching.

18:00
Bill takes a minute of ambi.

18:05-19:22
Ambi. Bugs droning in the background.

19:22
Bill and Carolyn head out. And shut down.

19:48
Stopdown.

19:48
FX animal calling Sounds like a monkey hooting.

20:19 AC
Andrea, will you tell Bill what that was?

20:23 Bill
It was a hornbill? God, it sounded like a monkey to me.

20:36
Stopdown.
