Headed for airtours of the pearl river area.
1:15 car doors slamming, keys jingling. Morning greetings.
3:05 truck pulls up and idles. Squeaking breaks. Pulls away, others drive by, squeak etc.
4:40 louder idling truck noises
5:27 voices. People gossiping about ivorybill articles all over the place, letters from other bitter birders who are convinced of the ivorybill's extinction¿trucks still coming and going.
9:30 discussion about bird guides that still have pictures of ivorybills, with text describing that they are most likely extinct.
10:49 introduction of pilot Daniel Bros to all of the searchers. Discussion of conditions and air sickness, where to fly and take pictures. Cameramen in back, searcher in front. 30 minute flights.
18:00 chit chat about camera techniques, video shooting.
18:35 car pulls out.
19:04 "more distant voices at the airport."
19:40 Peter and Michael head to the plane to fly.
21:00 walking towards the plane. Feet clomping on ground, pilot talking.
22:00 getting in plane. Arranging who will sit where. Metal clunking noises as camera is hoisted up front.
23:33 propeller/engine warming up, sputtering to a start.
24:35 begins take off, fades away.
25:30 louder plane starts up, quiets
26:28 takes off. Flies away.
27:45 plane flies overhead, away. Plane sounds continue, circling and getting distant

1:05:09 the fliers have returned, get out of the plane. Discussing where they flew. Looking at an old clear-cut, some old snags. Marked some points where they can go in on foot. New crew begins to get ready to go.
1:10:12 discussion of wastehouse bayou and other swampy areas of the region. Lots of discussion of where the wet and muddy parts are.
1:17:50 loud plane flies directly overhead.
