NOTES: C.T. OREOPHILA. 'SONG EXACTLY AS HAAGNER FROM SOUTH AFRICA - VAAL RIVER I THINK. POSSIBLY THIS MIGHT BE A GOOD COMPARISON' - MEWN. IN MYLES' FIELD NOTEBOOK HE STATES THAT HE AND JOHN START COLLECTED A SPECIMEN OF THIS BIRD ON THE 7TH OF JUNE. HIGH MONTANE FOREST WITH AN ELEVATION OF BETWEEN 2440-2745M. MUCH OF THE FOREST HAS BEEN OPENED FOR FARMING. KIVULINI IS ONE OF THE BEST DAIRY FARMS IN KENYA. THE DRAINAGE AREAS, EVEN WHEN IT WAS FORESTED, WOULD HAVE BEEN MARSHY. THIS FOREST EDGE MARSH IS AN OPEN GRASSLAND AREA WHICH MOST OF THE YEAR WOULD BE MOIST AND WET IN PLACES. HERE IT IS JUST A MARSH WITH GOOD GRASS GROWTH.
