NOTES: Cover density: OPEN; Weather: WIND; DURING PART OF THE RECORDING ONE OR BOTH OF THE BIRDS SAT ON FENCE POSTS; AT OTHER TIMES ONE OR BOTH WERE TAPED DURING THEIR FLIGHT SONG. DURING THE FLIGHT SONG THE MALE TAKES OFF ON A SPASMODIC FLIGHT, RARELYATTAINING MUCH HEIGHT. JUST WHEN YOUTHINK HE'S REALLY GOING TO GET STARTED HE FIZZLES OUT AND SEEMS TO LACK ALL COORDINATION, PLUMMETING DOWN AS A MASS OF DROOPING FEATHERS. IF HE LANDS ON A FENCE POST, AS IS OFTEN THE CASE, HE WILL USUALLY RAISE HIS TAIL AT ONCE AND THEN PERHAPS STRUT AROUND IN A SMALL CIRCLE VERY LIKELY UTTERING THE SHARP CALL NOTES HEARD IN THIS RECORDING. WHEN VOCALIZING THE BIRDS SAT ON FENCE POSTS COCKING THEIR TAILS UP LIKE BANTAM ROOSTERS OR FED ON THE GROUND. 2 MALE(S)
