NOTES: Birds in dry, open forest of 40' "Silk Oaks" or "Silver Oaks" (not oaks) bordering and in pastures. Hunters' crow call and voice tried; no avail. Poor tapes made at distance. When parabola set on ground pointing up, birds very curious and started calling. Good tapes made. Black & white photography started. Birds lost interest. Three remained but flew to another tree, then went off NE toward Parker Ranch pastures. Trees sparsely scattered about pasture extending 3/4 mile uphill toward Mt. Hualalai. Black & white photos against sky of blackbirds mostly silhouettes. Copy Recorder: Tapesonic 70-C. Filtering:15 kc hi-pass filter. -7 db on original. [LNS Note: Unbroken cut with handling noise gain change. James Napoli, 8Jun2005.]. William V. Ward's original data record states there were 5-6 adults present when recording commenced. Several birds departed leaving 3 individuals present. Other Behaviors: Establish Flock Contact, Emit Alarm. Habitat: Forest, Grassland, Park/Campus/Cemetery, Deciduous Forest.
