NOTES: There were intense thunderstorms with about two inches of rain that fell in the early morning (~4:00-10:00). These frogs were responding vocally to this inundation of rain. They were unheard the day before (16Nov2006). Recorded in MS stereo with Sennheiser MKH20/30. Mics were placed on a tripod about one foot tall and nestled in amongst the grass and reeds in a roadside slough with about 6 inches of water. Frogs were abundant all along the roadside, and the closest individuals were no more than one meter away. I never did see one.
Identified as Physalaemus riograndensis by Esteban Lavilla after listening to this recording. -Michael J. Andersen, 24 Nov 2010.
