NOTES: This was recorded following my ÒspishingÓ at a small flock with a pair of these birds, a Thlypopsis sordida, and possibly a few other tanagers that were foraging in scrubby forest along a side road up on the slope above the valley; as far as I could determine, most of these calls were given by the female, which was 12 meters away and 8-10 meters up in a taller tree on a scrubby hillside along the side road on the far side of the valley; the ÒspishingÓ did seem to attract and agitate the tanagers; fully overcast, calm, 82¡ F.
