NOTES: Initially natural song by an unseen bird that was about 10 meters away, but the second part was after playback, highlighting the male of a pair that was 4-5 meters away and 1 1/2-2 meters up (a second bird was singing and calling above it) at the edge of scrubby forest along the stream at the small clearing at the base of the hill a short distance before the sharp bend in the road; in response to playback, two birds, presumably a pair, came in singing and calling; for a short while, this bird and the Xenops minutus recorded in the following cut (cut #2001-17-09) were seen moving about together, but the antwren soon lost interest and moved off while I recorded the xenops; mostly cloudy, calm, 77¡ F.
