    Equipment Note

NOTES: A pair of unseen birds, the closer of which was 5-8 meters away and further was 10-15 meters away, both low (1-2 meters up) in dense undergrowth on the slope below the road in the tall forest along the stream just before the small clearing before the sharp bend in the road at the base of the hill; no apparent response to playback at first but later playback resulted in an aggressive approach, a variety of calls, and song (including duets); when recorded in the second part of the cut, the birds were in dense vine tangles 5-6 meters away and 2-3 meters up; I did later get good views of these birds, which also sang; sun not yet up but getting close [mostly clear but with clouds coming in, calm, 73-74¡ F].
