NOTES: Two birds that were initially 15 meters away and 2 meters up in the dense understory; later after playback of one song, highlighting a male that was 15 meters away and 18 meters up in a tree over the draw; in response to playback of one song, the male flew up to an exposed perch in the midstory and began singing; when thes birds sang they tipped their heads upward and pumped their tails with each note in the song; recorded in good forest with 30 meter-tall trees, the understory and mid-levels relatively open, and the canopy closed at the edge of the draw well up on the slope; a pair that was seen with a group of birds foraging over swarming Eciton burchelli (also present were Dendrocincla fuliginosa, a male Conopophaga melanops, and one or two Platyrinchus mystaceus); partly cloudy, calm, 81-83¡ F.
