NOTES: A male that was seen well following approach in response to playback by Mario Cohn-Haft, first using a cut on the Antbird Master, later of itself; we initially heard the bird calling (though I did not manage to get any calls on tape), and then played song back to it, which resulted in repeated approaches, during which it would sit motionless amid relatively open vegetation, and it eventually began to give these songs; when recorded, the bird was 15-18 meters away and about 8 meters up on a horizontal branch in the mid-levels of good, terra firme forest, with a 30 meter canopy and an understory and mid-levels that were quite open and with many palms; a second bird was calling and I briefly glimpsed a bird that appeared orange, suggesting that a female was also present; recorded along a forest trail that began at a small settlement on the bank of the river [04¡ 35' 28Ó S, 59¡ 29' 34Ó W]; mostly cloudy, it rained from about 10 am to 12 pm; calm, 82¡ F.
