NOTES: Bird was 10-15 meters away and 12-15 meters almost directly overhead as it perched in small branches in good terra firme forest with open understory with many palms about 200 meters out the trail from the road towards the tower; this was recorded following playback of a single song of this bird by Luciano N. Naka, in response to which, the bird flew in right up over our heads and was seen relatively well but generally from below; the playback was limited enough to produce only a weak reaction by the bird, but it did give more calls than it had before playback; partly cloudy, slight breeze, upper 80s. Subspecies: rothschildi .
