NOTES: Unseen bird was 2-3 m up and 15 m away in moderately dense vegetation in middle of campina below tree where I had earlier recorded the Cotinga; recorded following playback of a few of its own songs by Luciano N. Naka, which seemed to have little or no effect (given that bird continued singing instead of approaching silently, as I would have expected); after bird went quiet, subsequent playback may have elicited agitated ticking notes but I never saw this bird (though Luciano may have seen it before I came over); the last good song by the Hemitriccus was at 0:14, after which I switched to the Cyanocorax (which was not good enough to keep); keep only this first part of the recording [= CAR155, but voice announcement for this recording is at beginning of file #CAR156] .
