NOTES: Bird was unseen at the time but probably 20-25 m away and apparently 5-8 m up in forest just in from road; well seen and photographed later following approach in response to playback of prerecorded tape made by Andrew Whittaker, when it perched in the open for nearly an hour after the sun came up, and it was still calling intermittently when we left the spot at nearly 10 am; recorded in good, terra firme forest at bend in road at bottom of hill at the same spot where I recorded this species on 10 August in cuts #CAR05-14 & 16, and it presumably highlights the same individual; high clouds, calm, upper 60s to low 70s; this recording combines two files (#CAR085-086), with an internal announcement.

ML: Background subject changed from recordist's original identification of Xiphorhynchus guttatus eytoni to Xiphorhynchus guttatus [eytoni Group] to conform to eBird Taxonomy (v. 1.55). -Jay McGowan/Matt Medler, July 2015.
