NOTES: Male bird was unseen at first but later well seen in dense scrubby undergrowth along trail through second-growth forest along river; the first part of this recording contains one natural song recorded at a distance, but later parts contain songs recorded after playback of itself; after playback, the bird was unseen but about 10 m away and 1 m up in next two parts of recording; later the bird was well seen and at a distance of 6-8 m away as it perched 1 m up on diagonal branch in undergrowth of broken forest with many palms and vines; bird puffed body out and spread the wings slightly every time it emitted a note in the song; bird came in low in response to playback, generally quiet but it eventually began singing; no additional playback prior to the last part of this recording; partly cloudy, calm, 70¡ F.
