NOTES: Unseen bird was initially 10 m away, later 8-9 m away, and 7 m up in what appeared to be an ash tree amid small stand of trees in middle of overgrown field; glimpsed as it flew out to the east at the end of this recording; although at the time believed to be a Golden-winged Warbler that had been present at this site until the previous weekend, I later saw only a Blue-winged Warbler here (in the middle of what had been the Golden-winged Warbler's territory); I heard the first song at 5:53 am, with bird singing only intermittently thereafter; a small grove of 8-10 m tall trees that appeared to be ash in the middle of an overgrown field with ca. 1 m tall scrub, forbs, and grass; clear, trace breeze, 55¡F; sun was up at this point.
