NOTES: Bird was well seen, initially 15 m away as it investigated a recently cut tree stump on slope, but then as it bounced through an undergrowth of Coffeeberry (Rhamnus californica) and up into the lower branches of a pine overhanging the south slope in the middle part of the campground; it then perched 3-5 m up and sang intermittently; it then dropped down and had an altercation with a scrub jay in a nearby Arroyo Willow (Salix lasiolepis) and dropped into the Coffeeberry; in the end, the bird was about 5 m away and 2-3 m up; wind continued but I was in a somewhat sheltered spot; sun began hitting hilltops at 6:25; conditions the same (clear and breezy), but now in the low 50s. [This represents the song, though much of it may be "whisper song." Quality unchanged (2, 1-2 - BEST between 10:35 and 12:25) - CAM - 21 October 2005]
