NOTES: Bird was well seen when recorded 8-10 m away and about 3 m up at top of leafless shrub amid dense Coastal Sage Scrub along Coon Creek Trail not far from parking lot; dominant plants were Coffeeberry (Rhamnus californica), California sagebrush (Artemisia californica), Sticky Monkey Flower (Mimulus aurantiacus); this was recorded while and just after thrasher chased off Spotted Towhee (recorded in #05-RDAT03-08) and then perched up and called several times from top of leafless shrub before flying off; completely clear, intermittent offshore (down-canyon) breeze of about 5 knots, upper 40s to low 50s. [This represents the loud "Churrip" or "Hreek" Call of BNA. Quality changed from 1-2 to 2-1 - CAM - 21 October 2005]
