Over fifty young and adults (to 0.3 m). During hauling of trawls, many swelled rapidly, producing long bursts of creaking erk-erks while remaining inflated. In captivity over long periods, similar defense inflation with coincident scrapes and erks on MS and low, dull thumps on ES.
