NOTES: 58 (9/11//38) songs of BIRD #4 recorded in two parts at 17:00:40 and 17:14:40; this is a continuation of cut #99-132-04, after missing six songs changing tape when the previous cut ended at 16:52; this cut began at 16:53:42, with bird in same spot where it was at end of previous cut, though the angle was not as good; bird was 35 meters away and 25-30 meters up in good, terra firme forest; bird first moved to a point about 45 meters away and then farther to the east at 17:00:40, where it began singing again a little closer to the road; I missed four songs getting back onto the bird; it then moved again to the large, open tree with the densely vegetated branch, where I got back onto it at a distance of 35-40 meters; recorded along NW edge of reserve about 50 meters into forest on south side of perimetral road, 250-300 meters NE of road into the Sooretama Reserve [19¡ 04Õ 22" S, 39¡ 57Õ 06" W]; includes a single long-call from the bird; drizzle began during this cut, then light rain; full, dense overcast; generally calm, but with an intermittent breeze; some drizzle and constant thunder; 87-88¡ F, dropping to 85¡ F by the end of the cut.
ML: Subject changed from recordist's original identification of Xiphorhynchus guttatus guttatus to Xiphorhynchus guttatus [guttatus Group] to conform to eBird Taxonomy (v. 1.55). -Jay McGowan/Matt Medler, July 2015.
