NOTES: 110 songs and four long calls of BIRD #4 recorded at 7:00:14; this cut is a continuation of cut #99-130-01, beginning at 6:21:15 am, after I missed six songs changing tape when the previous cut ended at 6:19 am; bird was about 35 meters up overhead along road in vine-covered branch in huge tree; bird flew out to the southeast at 6:33:05 am, to a point 40-50 meters in on south side of road; bird was 30 meters away and 25 meters up after I went after it; it moved again at 6:37:45 am, with the recorder turned off at 6:38:15 am; bird returned to the same spot at 6:43:28 am (I didnÕt move), after I missed two songs; it moved again at 6:46:20 am, with a brief break in the tape as I missed two more songs; I got back onto the bird at 6:47:40 am, with it in an epiphyte-covered branch in the large tree where it was singing earlier in the morning; after the tape ended at 7:00:14, the bird sang five more times and went quiet, but then gave a long call at 7:04:47 am; recorded along NW edge of reserve along perimetral road, ca. 300 meters NE of road into the Sooretama Reserve [19¡ 04Õ 22" S, 39¡ 57Õ 06" W]; continues onto next reel as #99-132-01; full, dense overcast; rain through the pre-dawn hours; 77¡ F; cut includes four long-calls (2////2), some of them quite good; (45/11//9/1//44 Ð single slash indicates movement, double indicates break in tape); apparently a problem with the cable connection at times.
ML: Subject changed from recordist's original identification of Xiphorhynchus guttatus guttatus to Xiphorhynchus guttatus [guttatus Group] to conform to eBird Taxonomy (v. 1.55). -Jay McGowan/Matt Medler, July 2015.
