NOTES: 119 songs and five long calls of BIRD #4 recorded in two parts at 5:51:06 and 6:19; this cut began at 5:44:29 am, after I missed only a single song getting onto the bird, which began on south side of road with a long call at 5:41:48 am (with additional long-calls given at 5:43:13 and 5:43:58 am); unfortunately, the bird moved as soon as I got onto it, to a point that was 35-40 meters away, but not at a good angle; long call given by a second bird in the distance; bird moved again at 5:50:20 am, continuing back farther in the same direction; recorder off at 5:51:06, after which I missed seven songs getting back onto the bird, now right up overhead and 35 meters away in a canopy branch with dense vine tangles in an otherwise relatively open, large tree; moved again at 5:56:41 am, farther to the west along the road; now about 20 meters in on north side of road, about 40 meters away and 25 meters up; moved again at 6:03:03 am a little farther to the west on the same side of the road, again 35-40 meters away, but at times on the back side of the tree; moved again at 6:09:35 am, this time back to the east along the road to the same vine-covered branch where he was previously (now 35-40 meters away); flew again at 6:11:27 am, this time crossing the road to a point 30 meters away and 25 meters up; recorder off at 6:15:10 am, but back on again at 6:16:08 am, after I missed a single song, with bird in the same spot but singing only intermittently (now 30-35 meters away and 25 meters up); recorder off again at 6:18:05 am, followed almost immediately by another song (I missed half of this song), after bird moved a short way to a tall tree 45 meters away; recorded along NW edge of reserve along perimetral road, ca. 300 meters NE of road into the Sooretama Reserve [19¡ 04Õ 22" S, 39¡ 57Õ 06" W]; continues onto next reel as #99-131-01; full overcast, rain for much of the night, calm; 77¡ F (10/5/3/4//12/27/29/7/16/3//3 Ð single slash indicates movement, double indicates break in tape).
ML: Subject changed from recordist's original identification of Xiphorhynchus guttatus guttatus to Xiphorhynchus guttatus [guttatus Group] to conform to eBird Taxonomy (v. 1.55). -Jay McGowan/Matt Medler, July 2015.
