NOTES: Song, natural and after playback, the first part recorded at 5:51, the second at 6:03; bird was 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 m up in strip of dense second-growth (trees ca. 3 m tall) along logging road W of highway; bird eventually went quiet and moved off without me seeing it well; bird sat on moderately exposed perches but was quite nervous and moving a great deal, never stayed in one place long and was often obscured; in response to playback bird sang more (it never called) and moved around a bit but did not really approach closely; described briefly on tape and had crest erected conspicuously and flicked wings; bird was 10-15 m away and generally through dense vegetation; sun was up, clear, calm, 76-77¡ F.
