    Equipment Note

NOTES: HHb filters in cut position; attenuators off on both recorder and microphone; an odd vocalization that despite my never hearing it before, seemed to be given by the birds at this site relatively frequently; Trail G between 100 and 150 meters S of Principal Trail; bird was apparently on a large trunk about eight meters up; this "song" was associated closely with known calls of this species; bird seemed to approach giving same song in response to my whistling; unseen, but relatively dark.

ML: Background subject changed from recordist's original identification of Xiphorhynchus guttatus eytoni to Xiphorhynchus guttatus [eytoni Group] to conform to eBird Taxonomy (v. 1.55). -Jay McGowan/Matt Medler, July 2015.
