NOTES: Rattle calls and possibly begging. This was recorded just beyond the old becard nest site [03¡08Õ40" S, 60¡28Õ04" W]; the birds were 12-15 meters away in dense undergrowth, typically perching 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 meters up on slim, exposed trunks over an army-ant swarm; two birds were seen relatively well, one an adult, and the other an apparent juvenile; the young bird had gape flanges, seemingly a short bill, and regularly flicked its wings; the adult had what appeared to be dark, blue-gray irides and an obvious white chin; though Phlegopsis erythroptera and Dendrocincla fuliginosa were clearly seen in the flock, I am not certain if any of their calls were recorded here.
