NOTES: Unseen bird was recorded 11/2 to 13/4 km. out the road just as it was starting to get light; the calls were given from about 75 meters away; that several Penelope flight displays were given in the immediate vicinity at the time suggests that this is a likely possibility for these somewhat odd vocalizations (could P. marail be present at this west-bank locality?); there was a half moon almost directly overhead when this was recorded; almost completely clear, calm, mid 70s. Identification confirmed from tape by Kevin J. Zimmer. This bird was giving some odd vocalizations.
