NOTES: Notes: "songs and calls at end. some parabola noise; seen briefly as it passed by in response to playback of a prerecorded tape, but now is perched in view; dusk-still light enough to see the bird easily as it flew by; silent after playback; flew by ca. 3-4 m off the ground and ducked in to perch on or near the ground; relatively open scrubby "woodland" of pitch pine, white oak, and scrub oak; most rees 5-8m tall on sandy soil; partly cloudy, some low clouds, calm, low 70's to upper 60's. Recorded with HHb PDR-1000 Portadat recorder, Sennheiser MKH-20. Inside a fiberglass Roche 30" parabola, limiters off, HHS filters in cut position." HPF@180-SBA 12/11/02 [Thirty-seven songs followed by a series of wing-claps and associated calls as bird flew off, these apparently representing alternating examples of the"Cluck" and "Growl" Calls of BNA (citing Mengel, R. M., and M. A. Jenkinson. 1971. Vocalizations of the Chuck-will's-widow and some related behavior. Living Bird 10: 171-184). Quality changed from 1 to 2-1 (with some handling noise and towhee calling background throughout) - CAM - 8 November 2005]
