NOTES: [This recording contains 12 examples of the "peep" Call Note of BNA (the two BEST at 0:36-0:41), two Rattle Calls (the BEST at 0:08-0:10), and a series of "Kweek" Calls (0:495-0:54; see also Figure 27E-G of Winkler, H., and L. L. Short. 1978. A comparative analysis of acoustical signals in pied woodpeckers (Aves, Picoides). Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist. 160:1-110). There are certianly two birds calling here, with the Call Notes about equally divided between the two and one Rattle given by each bird. Quality changed from "VG" to 2-1, 2 (the BEST signal for first Rattle and some of the Call Notes as noted above) - CAM - 22 April 2005]
