NOTES: Taken from a letter from the recordist, accompanying his field tape:
Hidden Valley Reserve, Belize, +/- 3000' el.
Asio stygius is the beginning of the tape, and four minutes (and several cuts) go to this bird. Pine forest. This was a roost for this bird for several days. Time period was dusk: 6:10-6:20 pm. Heavy overcast, and beginning to drizzle. Essentially night when I give up. Unfortunate generator noise. Jan. 27, 2001. This call is a very "soft" call, + would be easy to ignore. Although it carries some distance, with a slight wind making noise in the pine trees, it would soon be lost: 100 m. (?) max.
